  1. Adjacent

wiktionarypar adjacent Adjacent is an adjective meaning contiguous , adjoining or abutting In geometry , adjacent is when sides meet to make an angle . In graph theory adjacent nodes in a graph are linked by an edge. In trigonometry the adjacent side of a right angled triangle is the cathetus next to the angle in question. In other words, they are angles that are side by side, or adjacent. Complementary adjacent angles A pair of angles is complementary angles complementary if the sum of their measures is 90 . A pair of angles is supplementary angles supplementary if the sum of their measures is 180 . An angle with a ray connected to a common point down the center. 1. Adjacent channel power ratio

orphan date January 2009 unreferenced date June 2008 Adjacent Channel Power Ratio ACPR is ratio between the total power of adjacent channel intermodulation Signal electrical engineering signal to the main channel s power useful signal . ACPR The ratio between the total power adjacent channel intermodulation signal to the main channel s power useful signal . There are two ways of measuring ACPR. The first way is by finding 10 log of the ratio of the total output power to the power in adjacent channel. The second and much more popular method is to find the ratio of the output power in a smaller bandwidth around the center of carrier to the power in the adjacent channel. The smaller bandwidth is equal to the bandwidth of the adjacent channel signal. Second way is more popular, because it can be measured easily. 1. Adjacent-channel interference

Adjacent channel interference ACI is Interference communication interference caused by extraneous power physics power from a signaling telecommunication signal in an adjacent channel . ACI may be caused by inadequate filtering such as incomplete filtering of unwanted modulation products in frequency modulation FM systems , improper tuner radio tuning or poor frequency control in the reference channel, the interfering channel or both . ACI is distinguished from crosstalk . ref Federal Standard 1037C http www.its.bldrdoc.gov fs 1037 fs 1037c.htm Accessed 2011 10 19. Archived by WebCite at http webcitation.org 62Z8qe0pC ref Broadcast regulators frequently manage the broadcast spectrum in order to minimize adjacent channel interference. For example, in North America FM radio stations in a single region cannot be licensed on adjacent frequencies that is, if a station is licensed on 99.5 MHz in a city, the frequencies of 99.3 MHz and 99.7 MHz cannot be used anywhere within a certain distance of that station s transmitter, and the second adjacent frequencies of 99.1 MHz and 99.9 MHz are restricted to specialized usages such as low power stations. Similar restrictions formerly applied to third adjacent frequencies as well i.e. 98.9 MHz and 100.1 MHz in the example above , but these are no longer observed. The adjacent channel interference which receiver A experiences from a transmitter B is the sum of the power that B emits into A s channel known as the unwanted emission , and represented by the ACLR Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio and the power that A picks up from B s channel, which is represented by the ACS Adjacent Channel Selectivity . B emitting power into A s channel is called adjacent channel leakage unwanted emissions . It occurs because RF filters require a roll off , and do not eliminate a signal completely. Therefore, B emits some power in the adjacent channel which is picked up by A. A receives some emissions from B s channel due to the roll off of the selectivity ...   more details

  1. Non-adjacent form

Unreferenced date December 2009 Numeral systems The non adjacent form NAF of a number is a unique signed digit representation . Like the name suggests, non zero values cannot be adjacent. For example 0 1 1 1 sub 2 sub 4 2 1 7 1 0 &minus 1 1 sub 2 sub 8 &minus 2 1 7 1 &minus 1 1 1 sub 2 sub 8 &minus 4 2 1 7 1 0 0 &minus 1 sub 2 sub 8 &minus 1 7 All are valid signed digit representations of 7, but only the final representation 1 0 0 &minus 1 is in NAF. Obtaining NAF There are several algorithms for obtaining the NAF representation of a value given in binary. One such is the following method using repeated division it works by choosing non zero coefficients such that the resulting quotient is divisible by 2 and hence the next coefficient a zero ref name gecc D. Hankerson, A. Menezes, and S.A. Vanstone, Guide to Elliptic Curve Cryptography , Springer Verlag, 2004. p. 98. ref . Input E e sub m &minus 1 sub e sub m &minus 2 sub · · · e sub 1 sub e sub 0 sub sub 2 sub Output E z sub m sub z sub m &minus 1 sub · · · z sub 1 sub z sub 0 sub sub NAF sub i &larr 0 while E 0 do if E is odd then z sub i sub &larr 2 &minus E mod 4 else z sub i sub &larr 0 E &larr E &minus z sub i sub 2 i &larr i 1 return z Properties NAF assures a unique representation of an integer, but the main benefit of it is that the Hamming weight of the value will be minimal. For regular binary numeral system binary representations of values, half of all bit s will be non zero, on average, but with NAF this drops to only one third of all digits. Obviously, at most half of the digits are non zero, which was the reason it was introduced by G.W. Reitweisner in 1960 for speeding up early multiplication algorithms, much like Booth encoding . Because every non zero value has to be adjacent to two 0 s, the NAF representation can be implemented such that it only takes a maximum of m ... reciprocal. 1. Scottish Adjacent Waters Boundaries Order 1999

The Scottish Adjacent Waters Boundaries Order 1999 is a statutory instrument of the United Kingdom , defining the boundaries between waters which are to be treated as internal waters or territorial sea of the United Kingdom adjacent to Scotland and those which are not . It was introduced in accordance with the Scotland Act 1998 , which established the devolved Scottish Parliament . Defining jurisdictions The territorial waters thus defined as Scottish waters come under the jurisdiction of Scots law , and are also used for defining the area of operation of the Marine Scotland , the Scottish Environment Protection Agency , and other Scottish Government agencies and Scottish public bodies public bodies . This is, for example, of importance to the Scottish fishing industry , the North Sea oil industry, and in the competing claims for the resources of the Rockall Trough . The territorial waters thus defined as not being Scottish waters come under the jurisdiction of either English law or Northern Ireland law . Therefore, because it defines the territorial limits of the three separate jurisdiction area jurisdiction s, it comprises a piece of constitutional law in the constitution of the United Kingdom . 1. Descriptive Account of the Panoramic View &c. of King George's Sound and the Adjacent Country

Descriptive account of the panoramic view, &c. of King George s Sound, and the adjacent country is a pamphlet written by Robert Dale in 1834, containing description and commentary on the Panoramic View of King George s Sound, Part of the Colony of Swan River , a panorama of King George s Sound painted by Robert Havell . Together with prints of the Panorama , it was sold to attendees of an exhibition given in the home of Thomas Pettigrew . Dale was an ensign in the 63rd Regiment of Foot , which was posted to Western Australia in 1829. He was assigned to the Surveyor General s department, and thus spent his four years in the colony exploring and surveying Description The booklet is twenty pages describing the region surrounding Mount Clarence , including the flora, fauna, geography, geology, and the original inhabitants, at the new founded colony in Western Australia . Other remarks regarding the southwest of the continent are also included in the text. Robert Dale records the climate of the sound as very fine , the temperature range and extremes are noted and compared with that of the Swan River Colony to the north. The topography of the region, from the coast to the Porrongurup Range , is described. At the right of panorama is a distant mountain range he identified as Toolbrunnup . Areas of water within the harbour are distinguished from those of the ocean and the offshore Islands of Breaksea and Michaelmas are also named. The appearance of lakes and woods are also noted and mention is given to the Kalgan River and its immediate region.
