It lies to the south southwest of the crater Hermite crater Hermite , and just to the north of the slightly smaller Froelich crater Froelich . To the east is Sylvester crater Sylvester . The outer wall of this crater is nearly circular, with a well delineated rim that is not significantly worn. The inner wall is somewhat worn and the features softened and rounded, but is not marked by any small craters of significance. The inner wall is narrower along the northern rim than elsewhere. The interior floor is level, with a central peak that is offset just to the south of the mid point. John Lovelace, 4th Baron Lovelace 1672 &ndash 1709 was the Governor of both New York and New Jersey . He the son of William Lovelace of Hurst, Berkshire , and was not related to Francis Lovelace , the second Governor of New York . Despite being born into an aristocratic family, the previous Baron Lovelace baron had weakened the family s fortunes through gambling, leaving John heavily in debt. He therefore served in the military following the inheritance of his peerage. In 1702, Lovelace married Charlotte, the daughter of Sir John Clayton, but her poor dowry little improved his financial situation. The couple had four children Lady Henry Beauclerck Hon. Martha d. 1788 , John Lovelace, 5th Baron Lovelace Hon. John d. 1709 , Neville Lovelace, 6th Baron Lovelace Hon. Neville d. 1736 and Charles d. 1707 in Sanderstead, England . In 1708, Lovelace was appointed to governorship of both New York and New Jersey to replace Edward Hyde, 3rd Earl of Clarendon Lord Cornbury .
