BlackIce Oakland , California is a No Wave Deathrock band formed in 1999 by members of The Phantom Limbs , Stevenson Sedjwick and Skot Brown. Additionally, Sedjwick has played in Factory Of Angst, Bloody Melinda and other bands while Brown has been a member of Anal Kitties, Oliver Klossoff And The Applicators, and Holy Revolver Society. It lies under Dolbury Hill. Its large main chamber has a boulder ruckle floor and is parallel to a cliff face. It consists of a horizontal lead miners adit a level passageway driven horizontally into the hillside leading to the cavern itself, a limestone cave. The lower part of the adit and the floor of the cavern are permanently flooded, resulting in Speedwell Cavern s locally unique feature the visitor makes the journey into the cave by boat originally Legging canals legged through by the guide, but now powered by an electric motor . At the end of the adit, the visitor alights from the boat and walks into the cave to see the fluorspar veins, the stalactite s and stalagmite s, and the so called Bottomless Pit . The latter is an extremely deep vertical shaft, now choked to within convert 20 m ft of the surface by rock spoil dumped by miners. The original depth of the shaft has been estimated, from the amount of spoil placed in the shaft over the years, at around convert 150 m . The player controls a small craft, navigating it through a series of winding caverns and tunnels while shooting or avoiding obstacles. The caverns scroll from the bottom of the screen to the top at a fixed speed, so the player must always move forward. The obstacles filling the tunnels are mostly the creatures of the title and appear as simple icons like smiley faces, floppy diskettes, birds, eyes, apples, bunches of grapes, Pac Man ghosts, baseball hats, turrets, etc. Many of these objects are animated, but they cannot actually move around. Your craft fires bolts of energy simultaneously in three directions left, right and forward that destroy the creatures but consume the ship s energy, tracked by a green bar at the bottom of the screen. Energy is replenished by shooting occasional tanks on the tunnel walls.
