  1. Kalonymus ben Todros

Kalonymus ben Todros d. ca. 1194 was a Provencal rabbi who flourished at Narbonne in the second half of the twelfth century. He bore the title Nasi , and was the leader of the community when Benjamin of Tudela visited Narbonne in 1165. He and his cousin Levi ben Moses were jointly leaders at a later time. From certain letters of Sheshet Benveniste to Kalonymus, it seems probable that the latter died in 1194. The letters are contained in a manuscript of the historian Joseph ha Kohen . Henri Gross believes that Kalonymus is identical with Clarimoscus filius Tauroscii, mentioned in a deed of conveyance of 1195 reproduced by Gustave Saige . Bibliography Henri Gross , Gallia Judaica . 1. Alan of Beccles

orphan date August 2010 Alan of Beccles ca. 1195 &ndash 1240 was official secretary to Bishops Pandulf Masca Pandulf and Thomas de Blundeville of Bishops of Norwich Norwich between the years 1218 and 1236. He became archdeacon of Sudbury, Suffolk Sudbury in 1225. After this he was at Paris, as he is mentioned as one of the English of note who left the University of Paris in 1229 on the dispersion of the students in consequence of the riots between them and the citizens. In 1239 he was appointed one of the arbitrators between Bishop Robert Grosseteste Grosseteste and his chapter on the question of visitation. In 1240 he is mentioned as giving way to the demands of the legate Otho for money, in spite of his previous firmness, as Otho succeeded by dividing his opponents. He died suddenly in 1240, and Matthew Paris , while acknowledging his eminence in literature, regards his death as a judgment for the injuries his conduct had caused to St. Albans . 1. Master Sibrand

Master Sibrand Meister Sibrand , Magister Sibrandus was the founder of the hospital in Akkon , which was to become the nucleus of the Teutonic Knights . For this reason, he is sometimes considered the first Grand Masters of the Teutonic Knights grand master of that order, even if it was only given recognition in 1192, and transformed into a military order in 1198. Sibrand had travelled to Outremer in 1188, in the the Third Crusade of Frederick Barbarossa , as a follower of Adolf III of Holstein . Sibrand is mentioned as the founder of that hospital in a document by king Guy of Lusignan dated to September 1190. The field hospital was operated for German troops during the Siege of Acre 1189 1191 siege of Akkon . Such a hospital had been set up and operated by merchants of Bremen and L beck , near the cemetery of St. Nicholas, using a sail for shelter. After the conquest of Akkon, Guy gave to Sibrand a house in the city, the Armenian hospital, where the German hospital found more permanent quarters.
